As a result of alcoholism, the harm done is not only limited to oneself but also others that call themselves your friends or family. There are short term and long-term effects of alcohol usage. The short-term causes consist of vomiting, impaired judgement and slurred speech. The long-term usage will cause alcohol poisoning, it can lead to cancer, and liver disease. The effects will vary person to person and the causes as well. One may not see the harm done soon after drinking and another may see the harm unfolding right in front of them.
While alcoholism continues to be an epidemic, more research is becoming available. The causes which include the genetics and the environment seem to be valuable. The psychological findings are essential and can lead to a break-through in research. (Baker, 2018
